Also known as Sandatenna, Moon Plains sits at 6,200 feet above sea level and offers one of Nuwara Eliya’s most spectacular vantage points. Once a former waste site, this remarkable highland plateau has been thoughtfully restored and reimagined as an Agricultural and Environmental Tourism Zone. Since its opening in 2014, it has become one of the region’s most compelling natural attractions.

• Best Time — January to April offers the clearest conditions
• Clothing — Comfortable attire and sturdy shoes are recommended
• Entry — An entrance fee applies
• Access — Entry is via the Government Potato Seed Farm at Seetha Eliya, off Upper Lake Road; private vehicles are not permitted on the dirt track
