Dining
Taste of Home
At Hanthana House, mealtimes are unhurried moments to pause, connect, and take in the hills around you. Meals are prepared fresh each day by Suba, whose cooking draws on recipes passed through the family and shaped by years spent in the kitchens of the central highlands. Known especially for her vegetarian dishes, she brings warmth and quiet skill to every plate.
Mornings begin with hoppers straight from the pan, string hoppers, or warm rotti alongside cut tropical fruit.
An unhurried spread of garden vegetables, fragrant sambols, and slow-cooked dishes layered with the spices that define Sri Lankan home cooking. Many ingredients are grown or sourced close by, so what reaches the plate reflects the season and the soil around you.
More than a meal, dining at Hanthana House is an invitation to linger - to swap stories over a second helping and taste the generosity of hill-country hospitality.
